Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Gale was raised a wealthy member of the elite within his community. Considered a prodigy among his peers, this human boy was descended from a long line of successful and famous wizards, and had the pride and arrogance to boot. However, his hubris ultimately lands him in a unique predicament when he challenges a vagrant to a Magic Duel and—to his horror, loses. Gale is turned into a helpless, awkward fledgling dragonet for his pride, and is left devoid of any magic. Cast out from his family who deemed him unrecognizeable, Gale must navigate a way to return to his original form; and doesn't realize how difficult and how easy it really is to do so.
PERSONALITY.
They say dragons are representative of greed, pride and power, and Gale is exactly that; an arrogant, snooty child who exudes headstrong confidence. He's descended from a long line of elites and he knows it. He will make a point to ensure that you do too. However, now forced to walk as a dragon, Gale has proved that though he prioritizes his pride and dignity, he is willing to stoop to all sorts of lows if it means surviving and achieving his goals. He's petty and prone to mischief, both to others' detriment and his own. A born prankster, Gale takes pleasure in exacting vengeance on those whom he feels have wronged him, however innocent that form of vengeance may be.Luckily, while Gale is meanspirited, outspoken and sheltered, there is some good in him and potential for change. Prone to refusing help, he does appreciate when others choose to aid him anyways out of the kindness of their hearts. He presents those who have been useful or kind to him with little rewards of gratitude, be it stolen chocolates or pieces of coin he'd managed to acquire. When caught in the act, Gale fails to take responsibility and will often play innocent and naive. He will do what it takes to preserve his fragile dignity, and becomes insecure and grouchy when he finds himself being humbled by a situation. He is, truest to the word, a brat. Despite this, to those he cares for, he is unwaveringly loyal and brave. A rare person might even witness a display of selflessness in times of need. However, those persons are few and far between, and even scarcer now that Gale has been cursed. But there is a light somewhere inside. Gale can grow and learn as a person, if only someone is willing to show him how.
ABILITIES & SKILLS.
The Dragon's Curse. The context of Gale's curse is moreso a punishment and life-lesson for his hubris more than anything else. Cast upon him by a mysterious figure, this powerful polymorph spell is unable to be lifted by any enchantment or potion. Rather, unbeknownst to the one who possesses it, the curse can only be broken by Gale himself. The dragon curse has no permanence or time limit, and will only remain so long as Gale refuses to learn the err of his family's ways as well as his own arrogance and selfishness. Perhaps, if one helps him change for the better, he can return to his human form. But who would have the kindness to do that?
Flight. A novice skill, at best, but Gale does possess powerful wings, and therefore, the gift of flight, as a dragon. His mastery over this newfound talent is barebones at the most and abysmal at the very least. But, with time and practice, he might just be able to develop it.
Storm Aura. Gale has been cursed to resume the form of a storm dragon. His body can channel and radiate with electricity, and he can breathe a powerful lightning breath. Like his flight, however, Gale has barely tapped into either of these abilities, and scarcely knows how to activate them.
Strength and Durability. Along with his form and flight is newfound strength and durability that Gale doesn't quite understand. Despite being roughly the size of a Labrador Retriever, Gale is much stronger than he looks, able to decimate objects with strong headbutts and swings of his tail. His scales are tough and resistant to electricity.
Spellcasting. As a human, Gale is an exceptionally skilled young wizard, possessing knowledge and mastery over powerful spells that most of his peers would still be learning to cast. This comes from growing up in an environment where his abilities could flourish, as well as natural talent inherited from his bloodline. Unfortunately as a dragon, Gale is completely devoid of all magic and cannot cast any sort of spells.
Other Skills/Talents. Can hold his breath underwater for extended periods of time. Decent at swimming as a dragon. Poor dexterity in his paws, has a hard time managing a precise grip. Awkward in his new body. Sometimes prone to dragonish-behaviors that go against his typical elegant nature.
HISTORY.
Gale Daedric is the firstborn son of Maelstrom Daedric, and the next in line to assume to seat of Lord over his household. Descended from a long line of powerful, elite wizards, the Daedric family oversaw power in the council of their community. With centuries-old money and plenty of acquired fame, Gale was set up to be successful from the start—and he knew it.Unfortunately, his family, though renowned for their accomplishments, was not without its flaws. And like so many elite families, the Daedric line had been corrupted by greed and pride over generations, such flaws which bled into the ways of Gale's father—and eventually, threatened to course through Gale himself.A proud child, full of hubris. Gale's ancestors were hoarders of wealth who refused to distribute it among those who needed it. Not a single coin would end up in the hands of commoners, the family fortune instead spent on Galas and gatherings, and material items of power. It did not help that Gale himself proved to be a prodigy among his peers; learning to successfully cast powerful spells that most wizards would not be able to master until well into their adult years. For all these things, Gale was exceedingly arrogant. But as they say, after pride comes humility, and humility came for Gale so swiftly, his comeuppance recieved in the most poetic of ways one fateful day. Insulted and threatened by a vagrant while on the streets of his community, Gale challenged the stranger to a Magic Duel, believing them to be an easy target.Oh, how he was wrong.Much to his amazement and horror, the young lord was swiftly overpowered, and lost the challenge. Just as he was beginning to register his loss, so too, did he lose everything. As punishment for his family's history and for his own arrogance, Gale was transformed into a helpless fledgling dragon, and stripped of all of his magic. The child-turned-dragonet fled in tears to the safety of his family—only to be unrecognized by his loved ones, and cast out from his home by his frightened mother. Now forlorn by this new predicament, Gale has since been forced to wander the streets and survive as a dragon, barely able to understand his newfound strengths and weaknesses. He strives for a way to return to his human form, but fails to realize just how to do so. For no spell, nor potion can undo what has been done; only he and he alone may break his curse, only if he learns to change his character.
